Giancarlo Ceci’s ICEA-certified organic Castello del Monte Rosso is at Vino
Giancarlo Ceci’s 2005 Castel del Monte Rosso has arrived at Vino. Made near Vino owner Nicola Marzovilla’s home town of Rutigliano, Ceci’s Rosso is a blend of Uva di Troia, Montepulciano and Aglianico, three varieties typical of the area. A great value at $15.00, the wine is vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel and aged in steel and bottle. As is the case with most wines made with Uva di Troia, Ceci Rosso has firm tannins, moderate acidity and medium-to-full body.
Giancarlo Ceci began focusing on organic viticulture in 1988, a time when few producers in Puglia were interested in high-quality conventional production. From his family’s ancestral home near Andria in the Province of Bari, Giancarlo oversees Agrinatura, a company devoted to the cultivation, production and marketing of excellent organic comestibles. His wines are certified by the USDA-recognized ICEA and contain 100% organically-grown fruit.
