In 1924 a small group of Chianti producers formed a consortium to promote and protect their wines. For 84 years, the Conzorzio Chianti has overseen production and given value to bottles with its distinctive “black rooster” symbol, the famous “Gallo Nero“. Chianti Classico has enjoyed its own D.O.C.G. status since 1996, when it split from the general Chianti appellation.
This month the Consorzio Chianti and some of its 350 producers arrive in New York to host a tasting seminar event called The Tuscan Nose. In conjunction with this occasion, Vino welcomes consortium representative Alexandra Bullock to the store this Friday, April 18, where she will be pouring a selection of “Black Rooster” Chianti. We invite you to join us for this special event, where you can sample some of our finest Chianti Classico, and learn more about this true Tuscan legend.
